So, Rob and I were thinking of ways in which we can raise the most amount of money as possible and we came up with a plan which means you get to join us on the day AND take part in the 8 hour challenge! Pretty generous of us huh?! I bet you can't wait to sign up...
In all seriousness though, the way in which we will raise the most cash for the #closertocare campaign is to try and 'sell out' the majority of the spin bikes for the whole 8 hours for a minimum sponsorship amount of £450 each.
So, I am here to try and convince you to take part (kinda wish I hadn't written my last post now...)
1. First up, as we all know - it's an amazing cause. Even if you aren't a parent you'll understand why it's so heartbreaking to leave your baby at hospital whilst you're discharged, going home without this tiny person who has suddenly become the most important thing in your life and leaving them in the hands of someone else (are you crying yet?! good. Hopefully I've managed to pull on your heartstrings!)
2. You'll feel bloody great from all the training - I hate to admit it (again, see my last post) but exercise does make you feel amazing. You may be sweating, you may be hurting, but you get to walk (ok, limp) round all day with that smug 'I did a spin class this morning' look on your face.
3. You'll push yourself out of your comfort zone - now I'm not usually one for motivational quotes (I leave that to Rob who is one of those irritatingly happy people 100% of the time, even in the morning... eugh. Stands to reason though, he is a personal trainer, see, I rest my case exercise = happiness). But pushing yourself out of your comfort zone is a good thing - you'll grow in self confidence, see new opportunities and you might just find something that you love... damn that's good, I should put it on a poster.
4. You get to train at CYC:D, which my friends, is not your average gym. No beefcakes at the weights section taking selfies of themselves in the mirror, no girls in full make up looking down their noses at you, no annoying trainers pushing you to sign up for a yearly membership which you'll never use (remember that episode of Friends? 'I WANNA QUIT THE GYM!'). I know, I've been there. But CYC:D is different, never did I think I would love a place that promotes exercise so much but it's bloody great - staff that are welcoming and friendly, instructors that motivate and genuinely help you (not shout and make you feel shit) AND you can get smoothie afterwards which are so damn tasty I've been tempted to pop into the studio when not attending a class just to get one. Anyway, this has somehow turned into a CYC:D fan club post... you get the gist, it's great. Check it out.
5. You wouldn't even need to do the whole 8 hours! - I get it 8 hours in a looooooonnnggg time! But what if I told you that you wouldn't even need to do the whole 8 hours? 'Tell me more' I hear you cry - well how about taking part as as a team? you could get together a group of you and split the 8 hours between you, doing an hour or a couple of hours each! So much more appealing!
So, come and take part in this with us, if I can do it then anyone can! (apart from my best mate Helen who will be giving birth to twins a month before... you are most definitely excused from this one!)
