Crossways Greengrocers - what fruit and veg dreams are made of

Sienna and I visit our local little village greengrocers - Crossways at least once a week. I love the fact that all the produce is fresh, tasty and local. Sienna loves the fact that Steve & Julie (who own the business) always smile at her and tell her how gorgeous she is... I literally have no idea where she gets her love of attention from...
As you'll know from my earlier posts, I'd been struggling some what with self motivation (which is the understatement of the year) and so I'd been trying to think of a more interesting way to get the practice in for the 8 hour #BigSpinforTinyBabies challenge that we're holding next month (not sure if I've mentioned it?!)
Anyway, whilst selecting my weekly fruit and veg it came to me - why not sit outside my favourite greengrocers on a spin bike and not only get the practice in, but raise awareness AND raise some more money for the charity too?! I told Steve & Julie about my cunning plan (whilst holding Sienna - how can you say no to that face?!) and thankfully they agreed to let me.
So, there I am telling one of the instructors - Gem Holdaway at CYC:D that very evening about my brilliant plan at yet another spin class. Imagine my surprise when she said - 'I'll come and do 4 hours in the afternoon so you've got someone there all day'.
There's a lot in the news at the moment about some pretty awful people, I don't want to get into politics (but you know, Boris & Trump) and it's easy to start to think that it's all doom and gloom. But you don't have to look too far to find the world is full of some pretty bloody awesome people too.
The type of people that let you take over their shop for a whole day on a spin bike with a collection bucket, offering to top up your water bottle and feed you bananas (as well as cheer you on and tell you you're doing amazingly). Or the type of person like Gem who hears what you're doing and offers to come and help by sitting on the spin bike all afternoon and collecting even more money even though she's been training clients since 7am that day. Or the people who came and chatted to us about our story, who smiled at a very happy Sienna (she got A LOT of attention that day!) and donated their hard earned money to a cause that is so important to so many of us.
So, next time you're feeling a bit down about the state of the world, put down your newspaper and visit your local shop - you might just find your local own heroes :)
Oh and we raised a total of £475! How amazing is that?!
